For those of you new to Beers for Books, the concept is simple: For every drink you have, $1 will be donated to Room to Read, enough to give a book to a child in need in Africa or Asia.
Room to Read is an amazing nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide quality educational opportunities to children in developing countries with the goal of empowering kids via literacy. Room to Read has projects in ten countries in Africa and Asia, including Nepal, Cambodia, Zambia etc. For more details, seehttp://roomtoread.org/.
International Book Giving Day (February 14th) is a worldwide volunteer initiative aimed at increasing children’s access to and enthusiasm for books. International Book Giving Day’s focus is on encouraging people to give a book to a child on February 14th. We are also encouraging people worldwide to host and attend Beers for Books events like this one.
This event is open to everyone, so please feel free to share this information with book-loving friends. Come on out for a relaxing evening with fun people in support of childhood literacy and the joy of books!
